Dropped at a trail roughly 100 yards from camp on Forest Road 564.A (a spur of Divide Rd / FR 564). The unnamed trail meets Roaring Fork Road (FS 435) ~2 miles downhill. Pickup planned ~10 a.m. at the bottom of the hill.
Description
Orange stocking cap, orange hunter vest over heavy camo jacket. Carrying a few food bars + water; no overnight gear. Cell phone present but powered off / dead since Friday Oct 18. Some trouble walking; not expected to range far.
Conditions
Camp altitude ~9,500 ft. Temps fell below 20°F (Dolores recorded 18°F overnight Oct 20–21). Light snow Sun morning; major winter storm followed.
Search Effort
5 days, ground + air. Montezuma Co. SAR & Sheriff, K-9 SAR, CO National Guard Blackhawk, Flight for Life, Mesa Verde Civil Air Patrol, infrared drones at night. Searchers placed 30 ft apart in aspen meadows; "should have found him." No clue, track, or scent recovered.
